The emotional topography is a map of emotional memories turned into a landscape. In this case, it reflects my frustration with using a heavy mountain bike to get everywhere in San Francisco during grad school. Public transit was unreliable and expensive and ride share was out of the question. So I ended up biking to school, for groceries, to social events, etc. over San Francisco’s hills.
The topography reflected in this project is my perception of how difficult it was and how much I hated it to go to various places I frequented. Home is the hollow center.
With the right perspective, the form becomes more landscape-like.
